I was LATE to this game but as they say, better late than never right? On that note, we are never too late for anything. There may be someone out there who for some reason decided to read these words and needed to hear this. You are NOT TOO OLD, you started your thing exactly when the time was right, you are RIGHT ON TIME. Ok, now that that’s settled, let’s make some coffee.

Coffee is my last vice. I had a pretty grand idea about two months ago that I would quit coffee and let me tell you, IT DID NOT GO WELL. I went to my favourite matcha place and asked for a tin of matcha. I gushed to the barista about how I loved their matcha and if I could make mine anything like theirs I could certainly quit coffee. Spoiler alert, mine tasted nothing like theirs and I lost 5 solid days of joy. I will make matcha again but it won’t be in the traditional way, and that is a very different post.

I hadn’t made DALGONA for a couple of different reasons. ONE, the idea of putting instant coffee in my morning cuppa really threw me off.. I mean INSTANT? Plus, I was under this illusion that it was ungodly sweet, trendy and I didn’t want any part of it. Then a client asked me to make it and well, everything changed!

Firstly, I would never make a dalgona coffee first thing in the morning (more of an afternoon treat when I’m feeling sassy), secondly you can buy very good instant coffee and thirdly, I got to control the sweetener. The results were omg delicious and now you need to make one too.

The last thing I will say on the matter is I thought this was going to be super complicated to make. Couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s EASY PEASY and so fun to shoot. I mean, look at it…That’s one sexy beverage.

Vegan Dalgona Coffee

  • electric hand beater or frother


  • 2 tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 tbsp boiling water
  • 1 cup non dairy milk
  • 1 cup ice


  • In a large measuring cup add coffee, sugar and hot water. Beat with an electric hand beater until thick and foamy. Place ice and milk into a large glass and spoon foam on top. Top with cinnamon if desired!
