Happy February everyone! I am kicking it off with a healthy snack that is fun to eat, easy to make and won’t give you any of the guilt (who needs that) of indulging. Guilt around food has become a hot topic. I have always been honest with you guys saying I am no nutritionist but I do follow a bunch. Shame around food and what we put in and on our bodies has become the trend in 2021 and I for one am here for it.
Snacking is a must for me. I have shared with you about my alcoholism and giving up cigarettes, drugs and the like. Coffee has been on the chopping block once or twice but I pulled the trigger on that one. A girl has to have at least one vice (ok, maybe two) and for me snacks and coffee, well, suffice to say, they are staying.

what a creative idea. I’m going to print the recipe and make it this week. Thank you!
I am excited for you to give them a try! Thanks Diane 🙂
We have local honey, but not local syrup. Do you think that would be an easy substitution?
Absolutely Danielle and it would be so delicious I’m sure! Enjoy 🙂
I’m struggling to find nice puffed rice, which brand do you use please.
Hey Tulasi – I highly recommend this brand! It’s typically what I use. I hope you like them https://naturespath.com/en-ca/products/puffed-rice-cold-cereal-np-ca
Why do they need to be frozen
Hey Caroyln, it helps everything bind together since they do not go in the oven!
These are so deliciously addictive. I made them today using regular Rice Krispies and smuckers natural creamy peanut butter. My very picky kids couldn’t stop eating them! Thanks for this wonderful recipe!
Hi Carrie! I am so happy I am not alone in the addiction and even happier that your kids are loving them!
Do you think hemp hearts could be used or should I find hemp seeds?
hey Lori, you absolutely can use hemp hearts instead of seeds!
Just wanted to mention that I checked all the ingredients and other than the puffed rice (which is medium), they are all low FODMAP foods. Very good news for folks on a low FODMAP diet. I’ll be making these for someone I love. Thank you.
This is incredible news and very exciting because they really are delicious! Please enjoy 🙂
I added a scoop of chocolate protein powder and they came out delicious!
Just put them in freezer. I did use all organic natural products. I cannot wait!!!
I’m WFPB no oil and allergic to all things coconut. Could I omit the coconut oil or sub with apple sauce?
Hey Caroline, instead of coconut oil add melted butter. Increase the melted butter up to 1/4 cup. Should be very very good!
Also the other crispy treat on the blog is made completely with browned butter and tahini; that should fix the problem entirely!
I’m making these right now. However I’ve tweaked it a bit. I have a homemade Maple Pecan Butter I’ll be using & I drizzled a bit of Tahini in with my recipe and I’ll be drizzling a dark chocolate with Hemp hearts & a little of my flaked Fluer de Sel I was gifted from a Sweet friend. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe it smells Divine already 😋.
Hey Donna, Thanks for the feedback! I love to see what the community does with my recipes
