As you know one of my favourite things to do in the summer is go strawberry picking and then make more things with my fresh berries than my heart can imagine. When supporting local producers, we not only embrace the freshness and quality of the ingredients but also foster a connection to our communities and I have a few farms that I frequent here in Ontario – every summer there is the promise of the most amazing berries.
This week I found myself in the heart of my kitchen, eager to embark on a baking adventure with these local fruits. Their vibrant colours hint at the flavor to come. A crumble came to mind as it’s one of my moms favourite dishes to make and feed the family. With various fruits in this baby the finishing touch of gluten free oats takes the crumble to new heights. With its delightful crunch and nutty essence, it adds the perfect contrast to the luscious fruits below.
